About
Our Story
The Institut Perkhidmatan Awam (IPA), formerly known as the Unit Latihan under the Establishment Office (JPA), was established in January 1977 at Jalan Kumbang Pasang to provide training for civil servants. Over the years, IPA evolved significantly, becoming a dedicated Civil Service Institute in May 1993 and relocating to Jalan Kg Rimba in February 1997, when it officially adopted its logo. By 1999, the institute expanded its scope under the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister’s Office (JPM), introducing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training and extending its programs to the private sector. In April 2021, IPA was elevated to a full-fledged department under JPM.
As an enabler of human resource development (HRD) for the Civil Service, IPA offers training, consultancy, and assessments to enhance workforce competency, organisational performance, and efficiency. Its mission aligns with Brunei Vision 2035, focusing on dynamic learning opportunities tailored to current and future requirements. IPA also conducts consultation and research to facilitate HR development, ensuring alignment with national aspirations and fostering innovation, governance, management, and leadership capabilities.
